Executive Director

Elliott comes from a bi-cultural, bi-racial background. He directed the Human Rights Office for the City of Fort Collins, has worked as a school principal, directed a school district transition program serving students with disabilities, and taught diversity/social justice classes at Naropa Unversity. He began his teaching career on the Navajo reservation in special education.

 

He has co-facilitated and coordinated numerous community dialogues including an Israeli/Palestininan Dialogue, a Fort Collins community-wide dialogue after 9/11, the Hispanic Community Dialogue with the Poudre School District, and a Fort Collins Business Economic Diverity Dialogue. He has facilitated and coordinated many multicultural community retreats and other multi-cultural educational experiences for youth and for adults.  He co-organized the Hispanic Latino Leadership Institute for many years and the Strengthening Latino Families programs in Larimer County Colorado.

He has two grown daughters, Isabel and Amalia and is enjoying growing food and raising animals on a small farm near Hamilton, New York.

 

He founded The Sum in 2006.

Besides organizing and facilitating our own workshops The Sum has facilitated workshops in education, business, government, healthcare, and human services. Clients include The Colorado Commissioner for Education and his cabinet, FEMA, the University of Colorado, Colorado State University, Denver University, Adams State University, Regis College, Northern New Mexico College, Western Export Services, Staples, The Colorado Resource Center, The Summit School District, Thompson School District, Boulder Valley School District, Colorado Association of Multicultural Educators,  National Association of Multicultural Educators, Denver Water, Poudre Health Services, Larimer County, Larimer County Women's Center, Larimer County Sherriff’s Department, Fort Collin's Police Department, Mankind Project of Colorado, Big Brothers Big Sisters, City of Boulder, PFLAG
