The Diversity Power VIdeo Project (DPVP): Transform the World Just by Telling Your Story!
The DPVP is a growing "bank" of short videos of people...YOU...from all around the world simply telling your stories: what do you love, what do you find sacred, how have you struggled, hw have you risen above, what do you wish your teachers had known?
We all need to hear and learn from people just like us to know that we are not alone. We need to hear from people that are different than us to know that we are one human family and to expand our world and humbly embrace awe inspiring perspectives we couldn't even imagine!
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Create a 4-7 minute video of you and/or the amazing people you know! This video would become part of a bank of videos we’d use in our online course and other workshops.
We ask you to share the aspect(s) of your identity you plan to talk about and which question from below you will be answering (feel free to do more than one video). We ask that you be at least 18 years old and that you don’t say your name in the video or where you live. Here are the topics:
A. Given your identity (your religion, sexual orientation, dis/ability, ethnicity/culture, race, socio-economic class, nationality, gender, nationality, size, language) what do you wish your teachers had known (done differently) when you were in school?
B. If you went to college, given your identity, what do you wish your professors had known (or done differently)?
C. Given your identity, what do you wish your healthcare provider had known (done differently)?
D. Given your identity, what do you wish law enforcement officers had known (done differently)?
E. Given your identity how do you wish people had treated you differently?
2.Talk about the richness (the gifts, the sacredness, the meaning) of one of the aspects with which you identify (your religion, sexual orientation, dis/ability, ethnicity/culture, race, socio-economic class, nationality, gender, nationality, size, language). Or talk about how different aspects come together (intersect) uniquely to make you who you are!
3.Talk about how power has played out around the way(s) you identify. Share your struggles and how you overcame them!
When making your video the camera on your computer will be fine but please make sure you use plenty of light! It doesn’t have to be perfect and we can always edit on this end to give it a polished finish. Make sure it’s an MP4 file. Email us when you’re ready to upload and we’ll send you our Dropbox folder address and access information! By uploading your video you are agreeing to the terms listed below.
And please let us know if you have any other questions, get stuck in the process, or change your mind and would like us NOT to use your video!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
